DIRECTIONS TO REACH OXFORD:
Oxford is well served by road and rail networks that give fast and direct access locally, nationally and from Europe. It is easy to reach by road and rail with excellent direct bus services from all the major airports, and from central London. Oxford is 1.5 hours from Heathrow, 1 hour from Birmingham International, and 2-3 hours from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports. From Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports, there are direct bus services. Buses are cheap, frequent and easy to use (you use cash to pay the driver as you board).

1. Getting to Oxford by Road:
Oxford is connected to London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway, junctions 8 and 9 link directly to the city. The Oxford ring road provides direct access to the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the A34.

2. Getting to Oxford from London using public transport:
Train Service: First Great Western (train) operates a frequent direct train service from Oxford to London Paddington station (approximately every 30 minutes). The journey takes 55 minutes and trains leave for Oxford approximately every 30 minutes. A standard single costs £18.80.
Bus Service: Stagecoach (bus) run a 24 hour bus service to London called the Oxford Tube. The Oxford Bus Company run a similar service called the Oxford Espress. Both services leave from the Oxford Bus Station at Gloucester Green. Visit their websites for timetables and a full list of where each bus stops.

3. From London Airports: Oxford is easy to reach from all major airports includes: Heathrow/Gatwick/Stansted/Luton: From airport to Oxford use public transport.

4. From Birmingham Intl. Airport: There is a direct train from Birmingham International to Oxford (only one hour by train). Oxford is only an hour from Birmingham Airport by train. Parking in Oxford:
There are access restrictions for cars within the city centre, particularly for traffic coming into the centre from the east, along the High Street. For quick and easy access to the city centre you should use one of Oxford's 5 Park and Ride sites across the city.

If you are travelling within the boundaries of Oxford city, the two main bus companies are the Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach. Visit their websites for a detailed list of their bus services and up-to-date timetables.
Taxis in Oxford:
You can take a taxi from Oxford Station to Oriel College, this will cost approximately £5.00 (a tip of 10% is customary). From the Station you can walk to the Colleges in about 20 minutes (see map below).
