Description
RNA interference or gene silencing phenomenon was first observed
in plants and worms (1, 2). RNA interference can be induced
in mammalian cells by the introduction of siRNA molecules,
and shRNA expression vectors (3 - 5). In all these cases,
the success depends on the efficient delivery of nucleic acids
into the cells or tissues of interest (6). In addition, delivery
of DNA/RNA oligonucleotides into primary cells and hard-to-transfect
cell lines has been a difficult task.
